The Mariastein healing plant garden was conceived and created in the early 1990s by the Erlenbad Franciscan nuns and the Mariastein convent community with the support of numerous sponsors. In 2019, the Franciscan convent, which was largely responsible for the garden, was dissolved.
Since spring 2019, Beate Eckerlin has been supporting caretaker Röbi Husistein and his team with gardening on a voluntary basis and has initiated a project for conservation and renewal. Around 200 different healing plants are cultivated in this garden. Guided tours are offered on a regular basis. If you would like to take a tour on your own, we recommend our healing plant brochure, which you can purchase for a small fee of CHF 5 at the monastery gate and at the reception of the Klosterhotel Kreuz. We hope you enjoy discovering and experiencing the healing power of nature. May the plants and this place give you peace and strength and be a source of inspiration, creativity and wonderful encounters.
