Weddings Couples wishing to be married in a Roman Catholic Church are welcome to use the church and its chapels. They are kindly asked to register their marriage with their home parish and to bring their own priest to officiate the ceremony.
Baptisms We are delighted that you wish to have your child baptized in the Catholic faith. However, we must inform you that Mariastein is a place of pilgrimage and not a parish church, which is why baptisms cannot be performed here. Our church does not have a baptismal font, and baptism traditionally signifies incorporation into the religious community of your local parish. Your child will be educated in that parish, receive their First Communion, and attend services with the family. Therefore, we kindly ask you to contact the pastor of your home parish, who will be more than happy to welcome your child into the community of the Church through baptism. You are, however, warmly invited to visit Mariastein, where your child can be blessed and placed under the protection of Mary, the Mother of God.
Funerals Unfortunately, funerals are not possible. For funerals, please contact the parish.
Other Celebrations The church and chapels are available for church services as part of a family celebration.
