Guest house

‘When guests arrive, they should all be received as Christ, because he himself will say: I was a stranger and you welcomed me’ (Rule of Saint Benedict, Chapter 53,1).

Hospitality has always been important to the Benedictines. The Mariastein Monastery offers people seeking God the opportunity to participate in the monastic life of the monks.

The guest house with 20 rooms and the regular daily routine with fixed meal times provide outsiders with insights and impressions of monastic life. In addition to being invited to the table (groups in the guest refectory, male individual guests also with the monks on request) and to dialog, guests are invited to pray together with the monks.

Various rooms are available:

with shower/WC
13 single rooms and 3 double rooms

with washbasin

Televisions in the rooms have been deliberately omitted.

There is a small garden, a lounge with a reference library as well as a piano and harpsichord.

There are 3 conference rooms available for groups.

Technical infrastructure: mobile projector, overhead projector, flip chart, TV/video with laptop connection, CD player.

Parking: At the entrance to Mariastein there is a new pilgrims’ parking lot (subject to a charge).
